Danish water treatment company Mutag has entered into a strategic agreement to acquire the intellectual property rights to recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) equipment supplier Alpha Aqua and its product portfolio.

The acquisition supports Mutag’s growth strategy and strengthens its position in the advanced water treatment market.

Mutag, part of the Matters Group, said the move expands its product range beyond primary bio media production to include prefabricated filtration solutions and skid-based utility systems. The focus remains on component deliveries while developing support systems for larger RAS facilities. This approach enables flexible, value-creating solutions for both existing and new customers.

Towards integrated solutions

The company said Alpha Aqua’s customers can look forward to best-in-class support through service, maintenance, upgrades, and complete system solutions.

Jesper Nissen Nielsen, chief business development officer at Mutag, said: “Acquiring Alpha Aqua’s IP rights is an important step towards delivering integrated solutions to our customers. We look forward to combining our expertise with Alpha Aqua’s technology to create innovative and scalable solutions.”

Mutag said the acquisition cements its position as a leading player in advanced water treatment, focusing on components and support rather than turnkey solutions.
