In a letter to Sunnfjord municipality, landowners Aida Gundersen and Charles Breidvik request a meeting to discuss possible re-zoning the area from agricultural, nature and open-air purposes to commercial purposes, news website Firda writes.

The facility is planned with recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) technology and ambitions to use aquaponics. The landowners believe the area is technically well-suited and has a low level of conflict with the surroundings. At the same time, they have lease agreements with both the golf club and the ski resort, which are approaching expiration.

"We have expertise in both projects and operations," writes Charles Breidvik in the letter to the municipality.

The municipality confirms that the plans require both zoning changes and a number of permits from various agencies. A meeting between the municipality and the initiators is expected towards the end of the summer.
