Salmon Evolution puts phase 2 into production
Land-based fish farmer will stock 60% more smolts this year
Norwegian land-based fish farmer Salmon Evolution today announced that phase 2 of its hybrid recirculation / flow-through facility on the island of Indre Harøy has been put into operation and the first smolt stocking has been completed.
Following stocking, the smolts have adapted well and feeding has commenced, with other operational parameters stable and in line with expectations, the company said.
Including phase 2, Salmon Evolution plans to stock around 2.8 million smolt at Indre Harøy in 2026, an increase of approximately 60% from 2025.
More than double capacity
“When completed phase 2 will more than double capacity at Indre Harøy, being a real game-changer for Salmon Evolution,” said chief executive Trond Håkon Schaug Pettersen.
“Phase 2 builds on four years of operational experience from phase 1, and combined phases 1 and 2 provides scale and represents an unmatched operational platform in sustainable, land-based salmon farming, unlocking strong expected cash flow generation and a full transformation of Salmon Evolution’s earnings capacity.”
At full capacity, phases 1 and 2 will together produce 18,000 tonnes of salmon annually. A third phase will double that volume.
