Steady progress for Nordic Aqua in China
China landbased salmon farmer Nordic Aqua Partners had a commercial harvest of 353 tonnes head-on gutted (HOG) in the fourth quarter of last year, achieving an average harvest weight of 3.3 kg HOG, equivalent to 4.0 kg live weight (LW), with a superior share of 93%, it said in a market update.
The optimisation of the number of fish in the recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility from Q3 continued into Q4, in line with the company’s strategy to produce larger fish.
The average harvest weight is expected to gradually increase during 2026.
The superior share was somewhat impacted by the harvest of small fish.
2,026 tonnes HOG last year
Total harvest for the full year was 2,026 tonnes HOG, achieving an average harvest weight of 3.9 kg HOG, equivalent to 4.7 kg LW, with a superior share of 97%.
Production during Q4 2025 was 1,350 tonnes, bringing the total biomass to 3,759 tonnes. Production for the full year was 3,981 tonnes.
Nordic Aqua said overall biological performance remains strong, with good fish health, no maturation, and high survival rates.
In October 2025, Nordic Aqua successfully transferred fish into the first grow-out RAS unit of Stage 2 of the facility in Ningbo, eastern China. Transfers continued during the rest of Q4 2025 into the additional grow-out RAS units and will continue during the current quarter.
The first harvest from Stage 2 fish, that were laid in as eggs in Q3 2024, is expected to be in September 2026.
