Phase 2 (upper two tank rows) is nearing completion, and the company is gradually bringing it into use.

Weaker fish batch lowered average harvest weight at Salmon Evolution

The Norwegian land-based producer says it is entering the latter part of 2026 with a clear and defined set of priorities. One of them is about getting the weight up.

"Operationally, the organisation is fully focused on achieving the biomass growth targets in Phase 1," said Salmon Evolution, which farms fish in a hybrid recirculation / flow-through system on the island of Indre Harøy.

Net biomass growth was 1,984 tonnes live weight, held back by one underperforming group in Phase 1, which represented around 25% of tank capacity in the quarter. According to the company, the group was fully harvested as planned by the end of the third quarter.

"Average harvest weight of 3.0 kg HOG reflects that group; Q4-26 phase 1
harvest weights are expected in the mid-to-high end of the 3-4 kg range," the company said in an operational update.

Harvested more

The harvest volume in the quarter ended at 1,596 tonnes HOG (up 15% from 1,387 tonnes in Q3 2025), with a total price realisation of around NOK 65 per kg, up around 7% from the same period the previous year.

"The superior share was 94%, in line with the long-term trend," reported Salmon Evolution.

So far this year, the salmon farmer has harvested 4,306 tonnes of HOG, up 38% from 3,116 tonnes at the same time in 2025. The harvest volume in the last 12 months is 5,509 tonnes.

Increased biomass

Standing biomass was 2,936 tonnes live weight at the end of Q3, up from 2,897 tonnes at the end of Q2. The company said operations were stable with minimal mortality during the quarter.

The escalation of phase 2 is in full swing and, according to the company, is progressing as planned.

The third smolt stocking in phase 2 was carried out in July, and new stockings are being prepared in Q4.

"The Phase 2 project is nearing completion, and as the company gradually takes over the rest of the facility, preparations are under way for the upcoming smolt releases."

The company said that phase 2 has the necessary frequency of smolt releases from the fourth quarter of 2026 (it plans monthly smolt releases from Q4 2026) to reach the target of planned production rate by mid-2027.

Salmon Evolution targets a production rate of 14,600 tonnes (head on gutted) by the middle of next year. It plans monthly stockings in Phase 2.
