Each module will provide a production capacity of 1,500 tonnes.

According to a stock exchange announcement, AKVA is scheduled to start design and engineering work in the fourth quarter of 2025, and the contract has an estimated value of 220 million kroner.

AKVA has delivered all previous post-smolt modules to Tytlandsvik.

When the last two modules are completed and delivered, the facility will have a total production capacity of 9,000 tonnes of post-smolt at 1,000 grams.

The signing of the contract thus marks the start of the planned expansion with the construction of halls 5 and 6 at the post-smolt facility, with construction starting in March 2026.

According to a press release from Grieg Seafood, one of the main owners of Tytlandsvik Aqua, the goal is to have the first smolt installations in hall 5 by August 2027 and in hall 6 by September 2028.

"The development plan for Tytlandsvik Aqua has from the start included six post-smolt halls with a total production capacity of 1,500 tonnes per year. Infrastructure for these six halls is already in place, and it is the last two, halls 5 and 6, that are now to be expanded", Grieg Seafood writes.

"Tytlandsvik has long worked with the aim of completing the facility with six halls. The increase in capacity is important for the continued work with post-smolt in the region. We look forward to continuing the good cooperation with Grieg Seafood and Bremnes Seashore", says Nils Viga, managing director of Tytlandsvik Aqua in the press release.

-"We see that the work done with post-smolt over many years is yielding good results. Our experience shows that when large post-smolt are released into the sea, mortality is halved. We also see that it provides significantly better control of sea lice. In recent years, around 60% of the company's fish have not needed lice treatment at all, thanks to the use of large post-smolt along with other preventive measures. We welcome the planned expansion of Tytlandsvik Aqua", says Nina Willumsen Grieg, CEO of Grieg Seafood.
