“In 2017, we saw the market opportunity to provide environmental sensing capabilities to salmon markets in Norway and have grown our market share to capture 50% of salmon farms in Norway. In 2018, we expanded our RAS design and land-based equipment solutions in North America, and we are excited to bring those capabilities to Chile”, said Marc Turano, VP of Land-Based Aquaculture at Innovasea.

Turano explains that Innovasea designs its control systems to optimize water flow and quality while reducing energy consumption. “For RAS, it’s all about energy efficiency. Furthermore, our gas management equipment is non-pressurized, reducing the operating head pressure of the system. As a result, less energy is needed to pump water through the system, increasing overall efficiency”, said Turano.

Globally, Innovasea’s land-based aquaculture division has developed more than 70 projects, 37% of which are focused on salmonids.

Innovasea’s Chilean operation opened in 2020 and is located in Puerto Varas. Has since collaborated with numerous Chilean aquaculture companies that have installed Innovasea’s industry-leading aquaculture solutions. To better serve the growing land-based salmon farm industry in Chile, the company recently expanded its professional services team and technology solutions for the Chilean market. The office is managed by Juan Pablo Barrales, Managing Director Chile at Innovasea, who has more than 20 years of experience working in Chile's aquaculture industry and holds an aquaculture engineering degree from Universidad Andres Bello.

In terms of professional services, Marc Turano said “we have highly experienced fish farmers working in our Chilean office, and they offer top-notch expertise and hands-on technical support to implement tailored solutions that boost fish production, lessen environmental impacts, improve regulatory compliance, streamline operations and increase profitability.”

RASTech exhibition

Next June 5th and 6th, Innovasea is looking forward to exhibiting in booth 58 at RASTech in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company will be showcasing its RAS design services and solutions, including automation systems that control energy, feed and water consumption to reduce waste, increase efficiency and optimize fish growth. Innovasea’s products such as drum and disc filters, UV sterilization and ozone disinfection tools, feeding systems, and gas management technologies can be connected for automated monitoring, troubleshooting and control.

“The company will also be presenting Farm360, Innovasea's cloud-based farm management software that enables farm managers to make data-driven decisions, resulting in reduced operational costs, improved regulatory compliance, greater sustainability, and increased profits”, detailed Turano.
